Ohio Jail’s Garden Program A Big Hit

A garden program started in a northwest Ohio jail has become a big success, and is possibly spreading to other jails in the county. Sheriff Kyle Overmyer, who developed the garden program as an innovative way to provide rehab opportunities for the inmates, vouched for the success, and said that he has shared the idea of the garden program with other Sheriffs in the state, and it has already been taken up by some counties. The garden program is also a good way to save on food, stated the Sheriff. It is reported that Logan and Wood counties in the Ohio state have also started their own garden programs. The garden concept started by Sheriff Overmayer of the Sandusky County had its inception in 2009, and more than an acre of the county jail's area has been converted into garden.
