Gardening Tools: Why You Should Not Buy Cheap

Gardening Tools: Why You Should Not Buy Cheap

One of the most common mistakes people make is buying cheap gardening tools. Although many people work in their garden, they do not consider themselves to be gardeners. Consequently, they see no point in buying anything other than the cheap gardening tools offered by the local big box store.

The gardening season comes along, they use these cheap tools to dig and plant, and, at the end of the season they throw them in the shed. The next year comes along, they pick up the tools from the shed……, and lo and behold, they are all rusty.

Since they only paid a few dollars, off they go and buy another set. The next year, the story is the same.

Spend just a little bit more and buy a reasonable quality set of garden tools. You do not have to spend much. The difference in quality between the hand shovel for $2.50 and the one for $5 can be huge. With basic care your $5 garden tools will last you many years.

1) Clean off the soil each time you finish using them.
2) Do not leave them outside on the ground or stuck in the soil.
3) Wash them before putting them away in a dry place at the end of each season.

That is how simple it is to keep your tools lasting year after year. Save your hard earned money on something more useful, like the fancy garden set you want.
