Save Money Gardening

Collecting seeds can save you a lot of money each year and also ensure you have a fabulous selection of garden plants. It is very easy to collect plant seeds from your garden. Each year, after your plants have flowered, the flower heads turn into seed pods. This is when they shrivel up and die. This year, instead of 'dead-heading' your plants and flowers by cutting off the dead heads and discarding them, why not collect the seeds inside them?
One of the easiest ways to keep your seeds is to re-use the typical medicine containers that are used for prescription medicine. Rinse of the plastic brown/orange container to make sure any dust from medications will not rot or restrict the seed development. Use these containers to store each set of seeds you have. The containers keep out air and light and are small enough to tuck away until planting season. This will save you a lot of money each year as you will not have to keep spending money on plants.

Label what seeds are inside, and do not forget to put in the color if it is a variety of plant with different colored flowers. If your neighbor has a plant you covet, why not offer to share seeds from one of your own best plants? You can also plant your seeds in seed trays and sell them each year at your local market or gardening club.
